where to eat in Medellín

What we liked most about Medellín was the food scene. There are SO many unique and amazing restaurants here. From tacos, to steak, to Asian cuisine, they had it all.

The main restaurant strip was on Calle 10 & Carrera 35. There you can find an assortment of street food, boujee restaurants and rooftop bars. All in walking distance if you're staying in the main hub 'El Poblado.'

Criminal Taqueria Provenza

Criminal was our FAVOURITE spot to get tacos. One day we sat there for 3 hours, order then eat, order more, eat more. The tacos were delicious and so affordable. It was always so busy, but worth the wait.

Mosquito Rooftop Bar

This was the first spot we ventured to on our first night and it did not disappoint. It's located in the Somos hotel on the 10th floor. Definitely a more 'bar' vibe, music was loud, it was dark and the lights gave it a 'moody' feel. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're trying to have an intimate conversation, but if you're looking for something fun this is a great spot. The cocktails were delicious and the view of the city was incredible.

OCI. Mde

OCI is a restaurant to go to if you're after fine dining. A reservation is HIGHLY recommended, we didn't know that but we were able to land a couple seats at the bar. We shared the Arepas for an appetizer and they didn't disappoint. For mains I got the beef tenderloin and Brandon got the lamb, both cooked to perfection. This place was a bit more expensive, the bill came to $70 for both of us, including 3 drinks each (which is much cheaper than we'd ever get in Victoria).

Aguafresca

I came to this place just for the aesthetic of it however, the tacos were worth coming for. Aguafresca is painted pink and has decor that reminded me of Tulum (every instagram girl's dream). The tacos and cocktails were also amazing. Most of the cocktails are tequila or mezcal based, and also come out so pretty.

Alambique

If you're going to go our anywhere make it this spot! The entrance doesn't look inviting but I promise you to keep walking in. You'll come across a set of stairs which leads into the main restaurant that's decorated like an oasis. It's local Colombian cuisine with a variety of unique cocktails. We sadly didn't eat here since we didn't make a reservation so we were only able to grab a couple cocktails at the bar but even that was a great experience.

Yacky Chan

Yes, it's as tacky as the name. Yacky Chan's was definitely one of the coolest spots we've ever both been to. Their cocktail list was so strange... yet so good. Each coming in their own unique glass. For food we ate bao buns, tons of different sushi dishes and ceviche, all tasted so fresh!

And this is only a few of the MANY amazing restaurants and bars to check out in Medellín.
