Las Vegas

Updated: Jun 14, 2022

Chandelier Bar at the Cosmopolitan

Las Vegas - also known as Sin City. There's heaps to do in this city from shopping to gambling to watching shows or having a wild night out. You don't need more than 3-4 days here but to each it's own.

Vegas is hard to do on a budget but it is possible:

Bellagio Fountain Show

Food

(if you are budgeting) buy snacks at the Walgreens so you avoid going out for fancy dinners and if you must go out, you'll be pretty full so you only have to order an app/drink! Most of the hotels have food courts as well so if you're looking for a cheaper hearty meal that's a good option. Hit up happy hours to get cheap drinks and snacks!

List of happy hours:

Charcoal Room 5pm-6:30pm

Acres and Ales 4p-6pm & midnight-2am

Hawthorn Grill 4pm-6pm

Triple George Grill 11am-7pm

Divine Cafe 4pm-8pm

Therapy 3:30pm-6pm

Hussongs Cantina 3pm-6pm

Honey Salt 3pm-6pm

Accommodations

There's some extraordinary places to stay on the strip, but also some good budget options! Even if you aren't staying at a certain hotel you are more than welcome to explore other hotels along the strip, I'd recommend it since they are all so cool and unique.

Entertainment

Like I said, there are so many things you can do in Las Vegas and it all depends on seasons. Pools are normally closed from November-March so if you are looking for pool parties aim for April and past that.

Things to keep in mind about Vegas

- The strip is a lot bigger than you'd think, pack comfortable shoes and if you don't want to walk anywhere you can buy a 24hr bus pass for $8 to get you around

- You can DRINK ANYWHERE. This I had fun with, buy the fun boozy slushies anywhere on the street or grab a beer and leave the place with it.

- If you are going out (especially as a female) don't purchase one of the pub crawl nights. It may sound like a good deal at the time but it's a waste of money. Again especially as a female you'll get free entry and free drinks at any club. Walk down the strip and meet promoters they are everywhere

- Last call does not exist here, I didn't realize till 5AM when I was still out.

- Fremont has an assortment of characters but it's worth visiting for sure!

- To save money the bus is a really good option costs $8 for 24 hours unlimited rides, or uber/lyft is a good option but you'll be paying anywhere from $10-20 per ride around the strip

- Don't buy tickets to shows online unless they are limited space, you can get cheaper tickets anywhere on the strip!
