Charleston

Updated: Jun 14, 2022

Charleston, South Carolina is easily the most charming city in the South. With heaps of history and things to do, this place should be on your bucket list.

Best things to do:

- Explore the colorful homes of Rainbow Row

- Charleston City Market, this attraction has been open since the 1800's and is still the most popular thing to do

- Sullivan's Island or Folly Beach, both just a short drive away from Charleston and are relaxing places to soak up the sun. Stop by Poe’s Tavern on Sullivan’s Island and if you’re over on Folly Beach, be sure to stop in at Lost Dog Cafe.

- Waterfront Park: in front of the water (if that wasn't obvious), nice to walk along during the day or in the evening. There's also a pineapple fountain!

- Rent a bike! Costs $25 for the day with Affordabike, pick it up in the morning and ride through the town and parks.

- The Battery, once was the "ritz" neighborhood of Charleston. Huge homes filled with history.

- Shopping down King Street. Plenty of shops to choose from with numerous places to eat and grab coffee

Best places to eat:

- Hot little Biscuit

- Husk

- Bowen's Island

- Tattooed Moose

- Wild Flour

- Home Team BBQ

- Boroughs Larder

- Early Bird Diner

- The Fig

- The Ordinary

- Leon's Oyster Shop

- Hominy Grill

- Butcher and Bee

The city of Charleston should definitely be on your bucket list, you'll explore crazy history, see some of the most colourful homes as well as eat some really good food. With it being considered now a "college town" there's always nightlife however it's good for all ages.
